Easily the best reply from a Dermatologist we’ve got when we’ve emailed him or her asking, “Is helping people with skin discolouration one of the areas in which you specialise?”
Unfortunately for those Sydney people with a problem with skin discolouration it’s from a Melbourne Dermatologist, Dr Pradeep Dissanayake.
(We thought we’d send our question to a couple of Melbourne Dermatologists to see how we’d get on.)
Of course, with all health and well-being problems, the first stage is establishing exactly what the problem is, and, when this has been done, applying the best treatment, but we’ve come to realise that it seems that when it comes to skin problems establishing exactly what the problem is is more difficult than in most areas of medicine.
Perhaps, what you have to do is just see the Dermatologist who appeals to you the most, and have him or her tell you what the problem is and then if you’re not comfortable going ahead with having them treat you, or their treatment doesn’t work, then looking for someone whose areas of specialisation include treating people with that problem.
